Alastair has been selected as one of four young hairdressers, including two from London and one from Brighton, who will be showing off British hairdressing skills around the world, as well as mentoring others.
“I was both excited and shocked to be chosen, as the selection process is one of the toughest in the industry,” said Alastair, who also lives in Diss.
“I wrote in first of all and was selected as one of 50 to compete in four auditions, during which the numbers were whittled down.
“The auditions were tough, some even going on for 12 hours, including demonstrations and presentations. It was the hardest thing I have ever been involved in.
“We are now waiting to hear what is being lined up for us, but I know there will be trips to Australia and America to hold shows.
“Britain is regarded as a trendsetter in hairdressing and it is great to be representing Diss in the UK team.”
The Fame team is chosen annually and was created to nurture, encourage and promote an elite group of young, up-and-coming hairdressers in all aspects of the industry.
The team is regarded as British hairdressing’s ultimate finishing school, providing an intensive year of education, opportunities and industry exposure.
Competition rounds included presenting live on stage to thousands at Hair Expo Australia, shooting with renowned photographer Rankin and learning from industry experts.
The team was announced during a ceremony at the Dorchester in London.
